Heating Up the Campaign

It seems the Presidential Campaign is to tame and boring and needs to be heated up.

Despite reporting on 2007 as A Year of Global Cooling I expected the Presidential election campaign would increase world temperatures by at least a degree centigrade and even more in the US.

However the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports the US has had a cooler than normal spring

The University of Alabama, Huntsville and Remote Sensing Systems of Santa Rosa two instituions that analyse and report temperature data obtined by satalite report that global temperatures were cooler in May

Three months do not make a trend but how can we have a decent Global Warmng debate without Global Warming?

Come on all you candidates, staff, reporters, pundits and bloggers, put out more hot air, let’s heat this thing up!

Hi Hank,

Well the correct term is "climate change" not global warming, precisely for the reason you've pointed out - while average global temperatures are rising on average, they in fact go up and down, and they affect different parts of the globe unevenly.

But I'm all for putting out hot air!

"There's a lot of differing data [about global warming], but as far as I can gather, over the last hundred years the temperature on this planet has gone up 1.8 degrees. Am I the only one who finds that amazingly stable? I could go back to my hotel room tonight and futz with the thermostat for three to four hours. I could not detect that difference."--Dennis Miller
